The SOMD’s Committee for Equity and Inclusion invites faculty (NTTF and TTF) and staff to submit proposals for mini grants to support research, creative activity, and professional development that further the goals of the SOMD and the university, as articulated in the university’s IDEAL Framework: A Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
SOMD CEI Guest Artist and Scholar Series
The SOMD’s Committee for Equity and Inclusion invites faculty (NTTF and TTF) and staff to submit proposals for guest artists and scholars whose presence on campus during a 1- to 2-day visit will further the goals of the SOMD and the university, as articulated in the university’s IDEAL Framework: A Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Revolve Consulting
The School of Music and Dance has partnered with Revolve Consulting in a process of evaluating our current environment and developing strategies for creating a more inclusive and respectful school. This work has been data-driven and customized to our needs at SOMD. Revolve Consulting has completed the data-collection portion of this work and there will be two training sessions for all faculty and staff (April 28 and May 26) and a training session for the 2021-2022 Committee for Equity and Inclusion (June 7).
These training sessions are designed to build on one another. These interactive sessions will provide us with an opportunity to establish a common vocabulary for our equity/inclusion efforts, discuss strategies for managing unintentional bias in our professional practices, learn how to identify and address microaggressions, and work to integrate engaged humility in our interactions.
Community Conversations for Diverse Voices in Music and Dance
The SOMD Committee for Equity and Inclusion invites students, alumni, faculty, and staff who identify as a person of color and/or a member of the LGBTQ+ community to join us for our Community Conversations series of virtual events this winter term.

We are excited about our ongoing work to create safe spaces for students, alumni, faculty, and staff from marginalized communities at the SOMD. We look forward to seeing you!

Faculty Pledge
CEI is encouraging all faculty to self-audit their curricula and research through the lens of equity and inclusion and to update their course curricula, materials, and research projects as a result of that audit.
