A Call to SOMD Students: Apply to Serve on the Dean's Student Advisory Council

The Dean's Student Advisory Council is starting our election process this week for new council members.

The Dean's Student Advisory Council is a group of music and dance students who work with Dean Sabrina Madison-Cannon and advisor Kathie Hsieh to facilitate communication between the student body, faculty, staff, and the music and dance departments. We also advocate for students and provide support through our Student Professional Development Fund and the anonymous SOMD feedback survey. We provide accountability for faculty and administration on behalf of the student body and provide feedback for the Dean. The DSAC also facilitates events for the SOMD community and has hosted town halls, interdisciplinary concerts, and student organization fairs.

To nominate yourself or someone else who you feel would be a valuable member of the DSAC, please fill out this Qualtrics survey (linked here). All students, undergraduate or graduate, who will attend UO from Spring 2023 through Winter 2024 and have a major or a minor in the SOMD are eligible. Nominations are due by next Friday, February 24 at 11:59 PM. Students who have been nominated will be contacted by email in the following week to confirm their nomination and subsequent intention to run in the election.
