Dorsey inducted into American Bandmasters Association

April 2, 2014—Rodney Dorsey, UO director of bands and associate professor of conducting, was recently inducted into the American Bandmasters Association.

This prestigious organization, founded in 1929, with John Philip Sousa as Honorary Life President, recognizes outstanding achievement on the part of concert band conductors and composers. The current membership (invitational) comprises approximately 300 band conductors and composers in the United States and Canada, as well eighty associate members (music businesses and corporations that provide significant services to band and the publication of band music).

Dorsey joins Robert Ponto, associate professor of conducting and assistant dean for admission and recruitment, as the fifth member of the organization from the State of Oregon.
