Timothy A. Paul is associate director of bands and associate professor of instrumental music education. He serves as conductor of the Symphonic Band, associate conductor of the Wind Ensemble, and teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in conducting and wind band literature. He joined the School of Music and Dance faculty in 2004. He holds the D.M.A. in wind band conducting and literature from the University of Colorado and the M.M. in music education from Florida State University. 

Ensembles under Paul's direction have performed at the Northwest MENC Biennial Conference, Mid-West International Band and Orchestra Clinic, the Southern Division CBDNA/NBA Conference, the MENC Conference (Southern Division), the Tri-State Band Festival, the Atlanta International Band and Orchestra Clinic, and the All-South Music Institute. Notable awards have included the Phi Beta Mu Florida Chapter's Distinguished Director Award, John Philip Sousa Foundation's Sudler Flag of Honor, and national winner of the UMI/ASBDA Distinguished Young Band Director's Award.

Paul is an active guest conductor, adjudica­tor, and clinician, working with middle, high school, and collegiate groups across the United States. In addition, articles have been published in the Journal of Band Research and Contributions to Music Education. With music colleague Phyllis M. Paul, he is co-author of the text, Winds and Hymns: Resource Guide to Hymns, Chorales, and Spirituals in Select Wind Band Literature, published by Meredith Music.

His professional affiliations include College Band Directors National Association, Music Educators National Conference, National Band Association, Oregon Music Educators Associa­tion, Phi Beta Mu, and World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles.
