Oregon Marching Band
MUS 395/695
Eric Wiltshire,
director
The Oregon Marching Band (OMB) serves as the musical representative
of University of Oregon spirit at home and at selected away games
during each football season. The band combines exciting musical
arrangements, contemporary show design, outstanding color guard
work, and thrilling routines by the UO Jazzline, into a truly spectacular
half-time of entertainment.
The OMB is composed of more than 200 students from virtually every
department, school, and college of the University. Enthusiastic
Duck fans always enjoy the sights and sounds of this powerful musical
organization as the band performs in UO's beautiful 45,000-seat
Autzen Stadium. In addition to an exciting PAC-10 home football
schedule, the OMB has traveled in recent years to the University
of Washington, the University of California, and UCLA.
The OMB has also performed at San Francisco Forty-Niners and Seattle
Seahawks football games and at Disneyland. In 1989 and 1992, the
band was flown to their appearances at the Independence Bowl in
Shreveport, Louisiana, and in 1990, the band performed at the Freedom
Bowl in Anaheim, California. In 1995, the University of Oregon
Ducks earned the right to play in the Rose Bowl. The Oregon Marching
Band accompanied them to Anaheim, and played at numerous events,
including the Rose Bowl game, itself. Such prominent occasions,
as well as other nationally televised games give the OMB an additional
opportunity to perform for millions of viewers as the Oregon Marching
Band continues to represent the University, the UO School of Music
and Dance, and the State of Oregon with pride and musical excellence.
